The protest in the center of Kyiv began after the court decision against the ex-leader of the "Right Sector" in Odessa Sergei Sternenko. The court found him guilty of kidnapping the deputy of the Limansky village council Sergey Shcherbich and sentenced him to seven years in prison. Nationalists used gas canisters and threw fireworks at law enforcement officers. Several policemen suffered burns to their eyes and needed medical treatment.
